The league has 18 teams split between three divisions, with players ranging in strength from beginner to national league standard so no matter your ability there is sure to be a place for you in the North Gloucestershire League!
We hope to have up to date results for league competitions on a weekly basis during the season so keep checking for updates.

15/05/12: Summer League has now started, please take note of the new venues for Gloucester and Stroud.
30/04/12: League now over: Division 1 winners Stroud, relegated Muskteers A. Division 2 winners Cirencester, relegated Rich's. Division 3 winners EDF.
02/04/12: League and county results up to date.
16/03/12: League results up to date as possible now. In division 1, Stroud pull away at a late stage and now look favourite to win. In division 2 and 3 Cirencster and EDF energy already have enough points to win when the season ends.
02/02/12: League results up to date. A note to anybody who thinks I have got their rating wrong: the new half yearly chess ratings came out last week, and will now be used for any results submitted from now until the end of the season. They will also be used in the Knockout cup, so teams in that competition should be mindful of the new ratings. Also, Gloucestershires unfortunately heavy defeat at the hands of somerset is now available to see (also using 'new ratings')
24/01/12: League results up to date, pending some adjudications. In division 1 Gloucester still lead but Stroud follow closely behind. Divisions 2 and 3 are ruled by Cirencester and EDF Energy respectively, with these teams now very likely to achieve promotion.
21/12/11: LEAGUE LIGHTNING TOURNAMENT: After an exciting and closely contested tournament, Michael Ashworth and Joey Stewart emerged as joint winners of the event. A full report is available on the 'tournaments' page, hopefully with a score table to follow soon after, as well as some pictures of the event. Our thanks go out to Nigel Hosken for organising the event very smoothly and managing to handle the tricky pairings in a most effecient manner.
30/11/11: The league is now well underway, in division 1 the fight for the top spot remains closely contested and unlikely to be decided until the second half of the season. Division 2 sees Cirencester holding a healthy lead, and likely to win. In division 3, EDF Energy remain unbeaten and seem to be heavy favourites for re-promotion to division 2 next season.
30/10/11: After a short period of inactivity, the website is now being brought back up to date. League results should now be back in order, but please contact me if any omissions are spotted.

League fixtures for the 2011-2012 season now available.
Last night the annual League AGM was held at EDF Energy in Gloucester and teams were entered. The season is hoped to begin in the week beginning September 19th and fixtures will be published as soon as they are ready.
01/07/11: With One round to go, competition for this years summer league championship is still very close. Musketeers currently occupy the top of the table but, with two games in hand, Tigers or Gargoyles could challenge. Wasps, on a solid 10 points, are also well placed to finish strongly. Next weeks matches promise to be very strongly contested.

09/05/11:Summer League fixtures now available on the tournaments page.
04/05/11: Rich's Win division 3. After a tough battle, lasting all season, Rich's managed to overtake Musketeers at the very last hurdle and are 2011 division 3 champions.
04/05/11: All fixtures now completed, one adjournment remains in division 2 but this will not have an effect on the league standings. Well done to those teams achieving victory.
31/03/11: Wotton hall win the Knockout Cup thanks to some good play by Elenor Hapeshi who beat a much stronger opponent to take them through on the handicap!
25/03/11: All league tables up to date (pending adjuications). Division 1 and 2 champions have been decided, so well done to them (and their opponents, for losing so graciously). Division 3, however, is still very much up for grabs so keep your eyes open for those crucial deciding matches coming up!
24/03/11: Gloucester defeat a strong Cheltenham team to advance to the final of the Peter Harrison Knockout cup - will they be able to overcome the surprise package finalists, Wotton hall ? Find out next Thursday.
12/03/11: Gloucestershire score a hard fought victory against Devon - 8.5-7.5 - in todays county match. Result now available on the county page.
01/03/11: Most results up to date. Stroud look to be racing away with the division 1 championship, all that is left is to decide second place. In division 2 Wotton Hall look favourite for promotion but Gloucester are still snapping at their heels and might still catch them. Division 3 is currently wide open, after the front runners Musketeers have had a slight stumble in form and leave Gloucester and Richs just marginally behind.
04/02/11: Results continue to be updated as adjourned games are resolved. Stroud and Wotton Hall have extended their leads at the top of division 1 and 2 respectively, Musketeers however have suffered a couple of setbacks and are now within catching distance of the other division 3 side.
26/01/10: League results up to date, with some adjournments pending. Gloucestershires fine result against Somerset is also now available on the county page
